Who am I?

I’m an Associate Professor of Finance at NYU Stern. You can find my research here. I’ve been thinking and writing about real estate and finance for a long time. I’m a strong YIMBY and believer that we need to lower housing rents to get to a more functioning economy.

Why Substack?

Like many people, I got interested in economics and finance back in the Golden Age of blogging. Google Reader was the platform for that world, and there was a lot of great commentary that advanced our understanding of the post-2008 world.

Google Reader died and we moved to Twitter. Which is good too (follow me at @arpitrage), but can often lack substance and depth. So I’m trying out a newsletter format here. Follow me, and let’s bring back blogs.
